YNAPP offers grants for up to $1,250 for youth to create and implement neighborhood-based service learning projects of their own design. Youth are project leaders and work towards ways to make changes in their neighborhoods and throughout the community based on their ideas and their vision for their neighborhood.

PURPOSE:

• encourages youth to take ownership of their neighborhoods and work with adults and local businesses to make it a better place to live

• gives them the opportunity to participate in the betterment of their communities

• taps youths’ underutilized assets and provides opportunities, resources, funds, and guidance

• enables youth to become involved in their communities by helping to improve their neighborhoods

ELIGIBILITY:

• Youth participants between ages of 7 and 18 (from neighborhood associations, social organizations, religious groups, educational institutions, etc.) are eligible to apply for YNAPP funding.

• Any property valued at $500.00 or more must be inventoried and must be accounted for at the end of the program year.

FUNDING MAY NOT BE USED:

• For overhead costs

• For salaries or wages

• For fundraising activities

• For direct donations to other organizations

• To supplement city programs or activities

• By city staff on city time

• To purchase gift cards

• Any other cost the city of Las Vegas considers unacceptable

**Adult team leaders may not work for the City of Las Vegas.

Instructions Show/Hide The budget tab is incredibly important to fill out because this is what our Grant Review Board will take into consideration when reccomending grant funding. If you are asking for $1,250 in grant funding, your group should be adding $1,250 in budgeted items to the table below. Please include a list of all items that your group needs to purchase to successfully complete your project. The budget should also include an estimate of costs for the items. If you run out of fillable lines, please consider grouping similar items together (i.e.: crayons, pencils, markers).
Funding Sources (YNAPP Grant, Donations, Services and Grant Match/Hours Pledged)
The Funding Sources must be completed before you submit your application. List the "Total Grant Match" from your Volunteer Hours Pledge Sheet (Found in the "Signature, Timeline and Pledge" Tab). Hours are calculated at $28 per hour (Example: 140 hrs x 28 = $3,920.00). Each group is required to match the amount they receive from YNAPP with volunteer hours and/or a combination of donated cash and/or donated supplies. Your Grand Total Match must equal or exceed the total amount requested from YNAPP.

Items to Purchase for Project
The Funding Uses/Expenses section must be completed before you submit your application. Be as thorough as possible and list all items needed to complete your YNAPP project; this includes, materials, supplies, donated items, etc. Don’t guess prices; get actual costs from online retailers or at retailers in-person. This will help our Grant Review Board understand the needs of your project and so that your team can anticipate the total cost to complete the project. This will also help you later on when it is time to make your Purchase Requests.
