About: The King County Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS) is pleased to release this Request for Proposal for a Student Veteran Chlid Care Pilot with funding from the Veterans, Seniors and Human Services (VSHSL) and guidance from the VSHSL Implementation Plan.

This request seeks an entity or entities to help implement VSHSL Strategy FS 3B -- to fund a pilot to provide child care subsidies to help student veterans who are parents to engage in postsecondary education.

Available Funding: Up to $400,000 in veterans funding through the Veterans, Seniors and Human Services Levy funds

Investment Period: December 1, 2020 - Dec. 31, 2023 (subject to change)

This request is open to nonprofit organizations, community-based organizations, tribes and tribal organizations and public or governmental agencies serving communities in King County. Small nonprofits and community-based organizations are encouraged to submit proposals.

Eligible applicants must have the ability to meet the following qualifications:

  • Provide supports to individuals, families and households in obtaining child care in King County
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible, and understanding of current conditions that impact the landscape of child care in King County
  • Demonstrated community trust with both providers and individuals seeking child care that promotes accountability

Please submit your proposal via ZoomGrants. Complete proposals must include the following:

  • Responses to Summary Questions (See Attachment A for reference)
  • Completed and uploaded Geographic Service Intent Form (See Attachment B)
  • Completed Organizatonal Equity Chart (See chart in Attachment C for reference)
  • Responses to Narrative Questions (See Attachment C for reference)
  • Completed and uploaded Budget (See Attachment D)
