About: The King County Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS) is pleased to release this Request for Qualifications for Program Supports for Senior Health Promotion Programs with funding from the Veterans, Seniors and Human Services (VSHSL) and guidance from the VSHSL Implementation Plan.

This funding opportunity will fund an entity to provide individualized supports to the senior health promotion programs awarded under the VSHSL Evidence-Based Senior Health Promotion RFP.

Available Funding: Up to $1,000,000 in Veterans, Seniors and Human Services Levy funds

Investment Period: August 1, 2020 - Dec. 31, 2023 (subject to change)

Eligibility  [hide this]

This request is open to nonprofit organizations, community-based organizations, tribes and tribal organizations and public or governmental agencies serving communities in King County. 

Eligible applicants must meet the following qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Expertise in evidence-based senior health promotion programs
  • Strong understanding of social determinants of health and health disparities and inequities.
  • Experience providing support around program implementation and evaluation to small, community-based organizations
  • Strong background in and knowledge of equity and social justice principles

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working with culturally-specific programs serving marginalized communities – such as communities of color, Native/Indigenous communities and immigrants and refugees
  • Experience with community engagement and partnership and with incorporating participant feedback into program design and delivery
  • Openness to and knowledge of evidence frameworks other than research-based evidence, such as practice-based evidence and community-defined evidence
