2023-2025 Health and Safety Minor Renovations  [hide this]

The Department of Commerce Early Learning Facilities 2023-2025 Health and Safety Minor Renovations funding round is designed to assist early learning facilities with improvement projects with no requirement of expansion of capacity.

This round has different requirements than the 2021-2023 Minor Renovations funding round. Please refer to the Early Learning Facilities website (https://www.commerce.wa.gov/building-infrastructure/capital-facilities/early-learning-program/) for details in the Program Guidelines and Notice of Funding Opportunity.

Technical assistance to answer questions about the application process only is available from ELF staff at earlylearningfacilities@commerce.wa.gov until the pre-application submission date of February 22, 2024 at 5:00 PM Pacific Time. After that date, applicants will need to refer to materials posted on the ELF website (https://www.commerce.wa.gov/building-infrastructure/capital-facilities/early-learning-program/). 

Pre-Application responses must be RECEIVED (ZoomGrants date/time stamp) by 5:00 PM Pacific time on February 22, 2024. All application questions and tabs must have appropriate responses to be considered complete and able to be submitted.  There are no exceptions to the deadline for any reason. Applicants are encouraged to apply before the last day.

Approval of the Pre-Application is required for the applicant to be able to proceed to the General Application., The General Application must be received by ZoomGrants by 5:00 PM Pacific Time on April 16, 2024. There are no exceptions to the deadline for any reason. Applicants are encouraged to apply before the last day.

If an application is complete and ready to be submitted, a gray "Submit Now" button will be visible on the application.  If there is no visible ‘Submit Now’ button in the application, see the ZoomGrants University instructions titled "I can't find a Submit button. How do I submit an application?". After logging in, click on "Help", and then click on the ZoomGrants University button for more information on locating the "Submit" button.

The amount being requested under the funding category must match the amount being requested on the Summary Tab and also the total grant request amount on the Budget tab.

There is only one funding category for this round: Health and Safety Minor Renovations.

The amount to be competitively awarded is $5,000,000.

Project Name is required.

  • Usually the project name is the name of the facility where the award will be used plus a few words to indicate what the funds will be used for, for example, Tykes and Tots - Acquistion and Facility Expansion. If there is no facility name at time of application, please use a short name for your project that will help us identify who and what the funding is for. 

Amount Requested is required.

  • When entering an amount, this is where applicants indicate the grant amount being requested. The minimum request amount is $10,000.00 and the maximum that can be requested is $200,000.00. All requests must be supported by bids, capital equipment cost website pages, or other supporting documentation.
  • For family home childcare, the amount requested may not exceed 50% of the current home property value.
